The user essentially needs to line up holes and turn it to a fixed point so it is seated securely. For my stuff, I'd rather not spend as much as I do, but I sure hate the extra weight of other choices. With a few well-places snaps to shorten it to poncho length you could have a hammock-specific poncho tarp that, if made in Cuben, would weigh around 8 ounces. It is super light but you have to make sure you stake the corners down securely.
